Palestine exhibition draws complaint
|
South Australia's Jewish Community Council has accused the South Australian Museum of vilifying Israel in one of its current exhibitions.
President Norman Schueler says the Treasures of Palestine exhibition contains items of propaganda which misrepresent the history of the region.
Mr Schueler says he has lodged a formal complaint with the museum, asking for parts of the exhibition to be removed.
"It's meant to the treasures of Palestine, and roughly a third of it is the treasures of Palestine," he said.
"The balance of it is propaganda and people have to draw their own conclusions from it and it's probably not a role that the museum should be playing."
The Museum is yet to respond to Mr Schueller, but its general manager, Steve Riley, is reported to have defended the exhibition as a "cultural history".
