Israeli Arabs demand protection An Israeli Arab leader called on Israel’s government to protect Arab citizens from potential Jewish attackers.
Shawki Khatib, head of the Monitoring Committee of the Israeli Arab leadership and chairman of the Forum of Arab Council Heads, made the request a week after Jewish terrorist Eden Natan-Zada went on a shooting spree in a Galilee Arab town, killing four people, the Jerusalem Post reported. “Arab citizens are exposed to the possibility of other extremists taking similar actions and they need to be protected,” Khatib said. “At the very least, there should be guards at schools in the Arab sector.”
Arab leaders also plan to circulate a letter to international bodies highlighting what they call racist and fascist tendencies in Israeli society, the Post reported. Settlers march through Palestinian territory More than two dozen armed settlers marched through Palestinian villages on their way to two West Bank settlements slated for evacuation.
The 25 marchers were passing through areas that are off-limits to Israeli civilians en route to Sa-Nur and Homesh. Nine of the settlers were detained by police, Ha’aretz reported. The remaining 16 marchers eventually were tracked down by Israeli security forces.
