02-13-06 - Israel 'has annexed Jordan Valley and shut out Palestinians' A 25-year-old Palestinian woman, Nafia Abu Musaed, died in hospital yesterday after being shot in the chest by Israeli troops near the Gaza border fence. IDF sources said that the soldiers involved had identified "movement of suspicious figures" 50 metres from the fence when the shots were fired. Palestinians sources said the woman was several hundred metres from the barrier.


02-13-06 - U.S. and Israelis Are Said to Talk of Hamas Ouster The intention is to starve the Palestinian Authority of money and international connections to the point where, some months from now, its president, Mahmoud Abbas, is compelled to call a new election. The hope is that Palestinians will be so unhappy with life under Hamas that they will return to office a reformed and chastened Fatah movement. Wow. Just when you thought that they couldn't go any lower... Starving them (some more) for wanting a less corrupt government, and jobs so that they can feed their families.


02-13-06 - Israeli soldiers kill Palestinian woman Nayfa Abu Imsaa'id, 25, and her friend were tending to some goats in an an area just east of the central Gaza town of Dair al-Balah on Monday when she was killed, family members told Aljazeera.net.


02-13-06 - Israel excludes Palestinians from fertile valley Israel has effectively annexed the Jordan Valley - about a third of the occupied West Bank - by barring almost all Palestinians from entering the region, a respected Israeli human rights group said yesterday.

the whole area a closed military zone, and ordered everyone to leave,
preventing Israelis and Palestinians from planting olive trees together.
Somehow, the Israeli military saw those olive trees as some kind of threat.
