Both articles from the Jewish Telegraph Agency.
From an article on August 20:
Poll: Majority wants neutrality A majority of Americans say the U.S. should remain neutral in the conflict between Israel and Lebanon, according to a new poll.
The Zogby International telephone survey, conducted Aug. 11-15, shows that 52 percent think the United States should remain neutral and 34 percent believe it should support Israel in its fight against Hezbollah forces.
Almost no Americans said the United States should stand with Lebanon against Israel.
Thirty-two percent said Israel used excessive force, 24 percent said Israel did not use enough force and 25 percent said the force was about right.
Sixteen percent said they were unsure. ______________________________________________________________________
And an article from today, August 21
Survey: ADL ads partially effective The Anti-Defamation League’s new TV campaign has helped persuade Americans to blame Hezbollah for the conflict in Lebanon, a survey suggests.
The national survey, conducted Aug. 16-17 by HCD Research and Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion, shows that after watching one of three randomly selected commercials, the percentage of respondents listing Hezbollah as most responsible for the crisis jumps from 59 percent to 70 percent.
“The ADL campaign appears moderately effective in increasing the likelihood that viewers will hold Hezbollah responsible for the conflict in Lebanon,” remarked Christopher Borick, director of the Muhlenberg institute. “However, the ads do not appear to significantly increase the level of public acceptance that Israel’s actions were in self-defense and proportionate to Hezbollah’s actions.”
