12-20-06 - Person of the Year: Ahmadinejad by Patrick J. Buchanan His trip to the United Nations, where he ran circles around U.S. journalists, was a diplomatic triumph. And he has done it all not with military power ? Iran would not last a week in an all-out war with the United States and has no defense against Israel's nuclear weapons ? but with theatrics and rhetoric.

12-20-06 - Palestinian viewpoints

12-20-06 - 'We are facing the hardest Christmas yet'

12-20-06 - Hebron Update 06-12-10 to 06-12-16 Roe, Uhler and Peters walked down Shuhada Street and were stopped by soldiers at
Gross Square. When told CPT was not allowed to pass, Dianne asked the soldiers
who was allowed. They replied that only Israeli soldiers, members of the Jewish
Community (the Hebron settlers), and guests of the Jewish Community were allowed
to pass.

12-20-06 - Reiterating the keys to peace By Jimmy Carter For 39 years, Israel has occupied Palestinian land, and has confiscated and colonized hundreds of choice sites.
Often excluded from their former homes, land, and places of worship, protesting Palestinians have been severely dominated and oppressed. There is forced segregation between Israeli settlers and Palestine's citizens, with a complex pass system required for Arabs to traverse Israel's multiple checkpoints....an examination of the book reviews and published comments reveals that these points have rarely if ever been mentioned by detractors of the book, much less denied or refuted. Instead, there has been a pattern of ad hominem statements, alleging that I am a liar, plagiarist, anti-Semite, racist, bigot, ignorant, etc. There are frequent denunciations of fabricated "straw man" accusations: that I have claimed that apartheid exists within Israel; that the system of apartheid in Palestine is based on racism; and that Jews control and manipulate the news media of America. Carter has visited the region many times, he knows of what he speaks.

12-20-06 - Al-Zawahiri: U.S. Talking to Wrong People in Iraq, Urges 'Holy War' Against Israel In Gaza, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum brushed off al-Zawahiri's criticism and defended the party's electoral policy.

12-20-06 - End of the strongmen - Do America and Israel want the Middle East engulfed by civil war? All of these outcomes in Palestine, Lebanon and Iraq could have been foreseen -- and almost certainly were. More than that, it looks increasingly like the growing tensions and carnage were planned. Rather than an absence of Western intervention being the problem, the violence and fragmentation of these societies seems to be precisely the goal of the intervention. Would there be near-civil wars in those three areas if we hadn't meddled therein? DOUBTFUL.

12-20-06 - America's Original Foreign Policy by Rep. Ron Paul It is time for Americans to rethink the interventionist foreign policy that is accepted without question in Washington. It is time to understand the obvious harm that results from our being dragged time and time again into intractable and endless Middle East conflicts, whether in Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, or Palestine. It is definitely time to ask ourselves whether further American lives and tax dollars should be lost trying to remake the Middle East in our image.

12-20-06 - Bethlehem now place of death, says patriarch, calling for occupation end

12-20-06 - Americans clueless about Bethlehem While the Christians of Bethlehem overwhelmingly (78%) blame the exodus of Christians from the town on Israel's blockade, Americans are more likely (45.9%) to blame it on Islamic politics and are reluctant (7.4%) to blame Israel.

Ms. Weir is citing a human-rights organization that was not at the scene; we used witness statements and medic on the scene to say she was killed by tank fire. I'll stand by our version.", if we are to believe him.

12-20-06 - Proposed travel limits on Congress don't faze Jewish nonprofit groups The consensus among Jewish groups is that the new legislation would be an inconvenience, but wouldn't seriously hamper the trips to Israel that are considered a critical component of congressional support for Israel. ...Trips must be preapproved by the House Ethics Committee, a process that U.S. Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) said would guarantee a continuance of the Israel tours.....Insiders said the impact was likely to be minimal. In Israel trips, the key relationship is not between the lawmaker and the lobbyist but between the lawmaker and the Jewish constituent who gives money to the lawmaker's campaign and who often is present on the trip.

12-20-06 - Orthodox community outraged as group embraces Holocaust deniers "They are going to learn that the Jewish people and Holocaust survivors are not going to stomach this," Mordechai Levy, national director of the Jewish Defense Organization, told JTA. 12-20-06 - So this is what occupation feels like Through its unwavering support for Israel and its illegal (per UN resolutions) occupation, America is complicit in depriving Palestinians of freedoms its Declaration of Independence holds as "unalienable."

12-20-06 - Palestinian immigrant in 'L.A. Eight' case becomes U.S. citizen All the so-called "L-A Eight" have denied being members, and immigrant rights groups say the case was politically motivated

12-20-06 - Get Carter The Israel lobby in the United States does not serve Israel or the Jewish community--it serves the interests of the Israeli extreme right wing.
