06-14-07 - Flag symbolizes freedom That large rip on my right side is also bothering. That's where one of the rockets from Israeli jets ripped through me as I flew from the stern of the USS Liberty on a clear and sunny day. The attack was called a mistake; yet it is no mistake to say that planes coming to our aid from a nearby carrier were twice recalled. I, and those brave sailors, still await a congressional investigation.


06-14-07 - School honors graduate killed at sea Smith and 33 other U.S. seamen were killed when Israeli forces attacked the Liberty in the eastern Mediterranean Sea with torpedoes and rocket fire during the Six-Day War between Israel and the Arab nations. Israel claimed the attack was a mistake ? Israeli forces mistook the U.S. vessel for an Arab ship. The U.S. Navy has not made official comments on the incident, and no investigation was ever mandated by Congress.

Israel has withheld 700 million dollars in such revenues from the Palestinians, a decision which Bailey called "arguably illegal".


06-14-07 - Tension in Gaza disrupts life at SOS Children's Village Dr Kamil Al-Shami, co-worker at SOS Children's Village Rafah, said that most SOS co-workers have been unable to leave their homes since the conflict started at the beginning of the week and some are stranded in areas of heavy fighting. Al-Shami said that the gates of SOS Children's Village Rafah have been shut to prevent anyone entering without authorisation.
