04-07-06 - Hebron Release: Israeli settlers seize another Palestinian building. Settlers had occupied an
apartment building facing their home. The apartment building is owned by a
Palestinian who now lives in the Palestinian-controlled area of Hebron. It has
been empty for over three years. Israeli settlers claim to have purchased the
building, but they had to use a sledgehammer and crowbar to get in. The army's
Civil Administration is checking their claim. In the past such claims have
sometimes been fraudulent, but this can be hard to prove straightaway.

04-07-06 - Fighters cross the divide for peace in Middle East If Bassam could have a constructive dialogue with a settler, Bassam thought, he could certainly talk to Israeli soldiers now refusing to serve in the occupied territories. Bassam says that while some of his friends have refused invitations to join the meetings, few, if any, have attacked him for doing so himself.

04-07-06 - Bush: Palestinians voted against corruption "Guess what the election was based on? Corruption," Bush said Thursday in a foreign policy speech. He rejected the thesis that Hamas? landslide victory in P.A. legislative elections in January was an endorsement of its terrorism and opposition to Israel. And the irony of the year is the response to the Palestinian rejection of Fatah corruption by voting in Hamas - the EU and the US just today cut all aid to the Palestinians. There's that neocon 'democracy' rearing its ugly head again. 'You will elect Israel-friendly regimes or else!'

04-07-06 - Kerry, the anti-war candidate? by Patrick J. Buchanan The Bush bellicosity toward Tehran gave us Ahmadinejad. The principal beneficiary of the crusade for democracy is a Hamas government we are trying to choke to death by cutting off aid. How putting 50,000 Palestinian police on the streets of the West Bank and Gaza with no means of supporting their families will advance peace escapes a number of us.
