News for 01-21-07

01-21-07 - EU's Solana shocked at Israeli settlement growth EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana urged Israel to freeze West Bank settlements and stop constructing the security fence. He hoped "the realities on the ground" brought about by Jewish settlement building would not "prevent a two-state solution from happening."

01-21-07 - Tamimi Warns of Unwavering Israeli Attempts to Oblitrate millstones of Jerusalem Palestinian chief justice Sheikh Tayseer Rajab Al-Tamimi has warned Friday that the Israeli occupation authorities were expediting excavation works under the Aqsa Mosque in a bid to waken its foundation and lead to its final collapse, describing such works as "butchery against civilization".

01-21-07 - Hamas gov't opposes secret talks with Israel

01-21-07 - Islamic Jihad fires rockets on southern Israel "The operation (Red Flower) is the natural reaction to the daily crimes that the Zionist occupation is committing against our people, mainly killing innocents and detaining men and women," said the leaflet.

01-21-07 - Follow-up Committee meets in Gaza The Palestinian Follow-up Committee met on Sunday at night in Gaza City and agreed to resume national talks next Tuesday. Representatives of Fateh and Hamas attended the meeting.

01-21-07 - New proposal: Transfer-for-cash plan "Arabs are busy killing Jews or providing aid, cover and legitimacy to terrorists," Aviner said in a telephone interview.

"There is no end in sight. I do not want to keep killing them to protect myself. So the best solution is to encourage them to leave," he said. "As soon as the word gets around that Israel is paying compensation to anyone who leaves, it will have a snowball effect."
Just a delightful bunch, they are.

01-21-07 - Ex-US official: Bush would approve Iran attack ** If all options were exhausted in the attempt to stop the Iranian nuclear project, and US military involvement was needed for a successful strike on Tehran, US President George Bush would give the green light for the operation, former director of the US Defense Policy Board Advisory Committee, Richard Perle, told the Herzliya Conference on Sunday evening. Note who he is speaking to.

01-21-07 - US under secretary of state: We won't allow nuclear Iran' ** (VIDEO) Nicholas Burns says ?There is no doubt Iran seeking nuclear military weapons; stationing of two battle groups in Persian Gulf is part of our response?; adds: We are committed to being Israel's strongest security partner Note who he is speaking to.

01-21-07 - REFLECTION Hebron: Shabbat Shalom?

01-21-07 - Israel, U.S. discuss Iran ** Israeli Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz hosted visiting U.S. Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Nicholas Burns on Sunday for the first in a series of bilateral consultations on international efforts to ensure Iran does not acquire atomic weapons.

01-21-07 - IDF source admits 44 barriers allegedly removed did not exist This statement confirms a claim made recently by United Nations organizations operating in the territories: that most of these barriers were not removed, because they had not existed for months.

01-21-07 - Autopsy rules out rubber bullets in death of 10-year-old Anata girl Thus does another 'exoneration' begin (had to be one of them there rocks!).

01-21-07 - Carter's observations are well-founded If Carter's depiction of the logical end of Israel's policies has irked his critics, what caused outrage, is his observation that Israel's policies cannot be freely debated in the US. And here, and in the way they have vented their anger, Carter's critics have only served to make his point. As was the case with the study by Mearsheimer and Walt, and the smears that followed, the 'critics' serve to prove Carter right.

01-21-07 - Syria mediates meeting between Palestinian president and top Hamas leader

01-21-07 - Inquiry into Lebanon war will decide the future of Olmert

01-21-07 - Killings of Palestinians raise questions about Israeli army Human-rights groups maintain that such incidents recur because the army has failed to properly investigate and bring soldiers to justice for unlawful killing of civilians. About a week or so ago, there was a piece about how light the sentences are when some of these folks do get brought to 'justice'.

01-21-07 - Facilitating Genocide:The Reporting of Abir Aramin's Death Abir Aramin was only injured at first by the gas bomb that was shot at the back of her head. She had just stepped out of the Anata School for Girls after taking a test when the gas canister hit her and she was knocked to the ground. Several of these reports suggest it was a gas canister or stun grenade, and not rubber bullets, that killed the girl.

01-21-07 - Solana: Time to solve Israeli-Palestinian conflict

01-21-07 - MacKay raises concerns over Israel's security barrier Livni said she would like to see Canadian support for Israel's position on the controversial issue of the right of Palestinian refugees to return to the homes they lost as a result of the Arab/Israeli war And given Israel's burgeoning lobby in Canada, she might just get it.

01-21-07 - The Uprooting of A Nation: An Immoral Endeavor Israel's military victory was accomplished by implementing the Zionist mission of driving the local Palestinian population out of the land of Israel. The inhuman methods employed by the victorious army included blatant intimidation, indiscriminate killings, summary executions, homes demolitions, and a rampant offensive of looting and destruction - resulting in the expulsion of nearly 800,000 Palestinians, the destruction of 531 villages and the evacuation of Palestinian communities from 11 urban centres.

01-21-07 - Netanyahu: West must stop Iran from executing new Holocaust ** "When we are talking about rallying public opinion on genocide, who will lead the charge if not us?" he said. "No one will come defend the Jews if they no not defend themselves. This is the lesson of history." 2002, Netanyahu on Iraq: "Wolf! Wolf!". 2007, Netanyahu on Iran: "Wolf! Wolf!".

01-21-07 - Zionism in the Cinema - Part Three Even after the emergence of Israel as the most powerful political and military entity in the Middle East, the idea that the Jewish state is vulnerable because of its neighbors, and not because of the consequences of the ethnic cleansing that is essential to the Zionist project, is seriously accepted by millions of people.

01-21-07 - The 'Israeli Lobby' The support is seen by many as detrimental to Israeli-Palestinian peace but they fear retribution for speaking out -- such as what Carter, Walt and Mearsheimer have received.

01-21-07 - Gen. Clark's Controversy "While we know (Clark) is a good friend of Israel and is not an anti-Semite, he still engaged in inappropriate language by talking about how Israel and Jewish money will move this country to war on Iran," Foxman said. Oh dear.

01-21-07 - Leave the U.S. embassy where it is What Washington does not need to do, is to stage a provocation. That, at this stage, is the only real significance of moving the embassy.

01-21-07 - Shalom, Ayalon Respond to Clinton Candidacy Ex-Ambassador to the United States Danny Ayalon agreed that Clinton has supported Israel in the past, but predicted that if elected, she will be determined to leave her mark on the Middle East, even if she needs to oppose Israeli policy to do so. The HORROR!

01-21-07 - Young, Russian-born U.S. Jews assert their identity on both coasts At January's Shabbat dinner, an AIPAC representative spoke about lobbying for Israel on Capitol Hill and how this group - almost all of whom have friends or family in Israel - could influence American aid for the Jewish state...."I see us as a bridge into the established Jewish community," he says. "I want us to be 'used' as much as possible."

01-21-07 - Strategic talks with U.S. focus on Iranian threat Washington intends to pledge about $1 billion to rebuild Lebanon following last summer's war with Israel, they said, and it expects the Europeans and Saudi Arabia to make hefty pledges as well.

01-21-07 - Deborah Lipstadt is less popular than Chicken Manure She then continues by adding that Carter was insensitive because his book only made "two fleeting references to the holocaust." Well reader, believe it or not, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Winston Churchill, and Charles de Gaulle are all guilty of insensitivity too, as not one of them bothered to leave a single reference whatsoever to the holocaust in their extensive memoirs, but don't expect Lipstadt to mention this fact, it might knock some of the outrage out of her sails or worse, alert her readers to the fact that the aforementioned never even bothered to mentioned this allegedly "well documented" event, in their own war time diaries. Israel and its supporters routinely play the Holocaust card to justify the former's behavior. It does no such thing.
